Friendship

Our resident opposum brought a friend to the feeding station yesterday.   Maybe we'll have baby opposums this Spring!!!

Bobcat

The first time we saw a bobcat on the property was February 2009.  Today, at dusk, we saw either the same one returning or a different one.   He came at the same time the ducks were eating.   I looked out the window when I saw a flock of them fly away and there he was looking very beautiful in the snow.  Perhaps he was stalking them? 

Opossum - Stopping by for Sunday Brunch

We have seen this little guy for several weeks, but usually at dusk.  Today he was out at 1:00pm looking for a snack.  

Sad Day at Wildlife Lane

It is always a sad day when the death of an animal happens on the property....however we understand the necessity of wildlife to find food to survive (especially in the difficult weather conditions we are currently experiencing).   Recently, ducks have started coming to the property.  Today, unfortunately, one was taken by a hawk.

Looking for food

A couple of mallard ducks stopped by the deer feeding area looking for some left over corn.  They dug under the snow (yes, it is snowing AGAIN) and found some food.  Our wildlife is having a hard time finding food with all this snow on the ground.

Here is 1 of 2 beautiful bucks that came to the property today.

Cider & Ginger - Jan. 8, 2011

Cider and her young fawn, Ginger, made an appearance this morning looking for some deer corn.  They can't find much food with 8 inches of fresh snow on the ground.
