Another Hawk Visit Today

  1. They are so hard to tell apart. I vote for the Coopers because the outer tail feathers are shorter than the middle tail feathers.

We had a Coopers Hawk fly into the casting shop at Ansonia Copper & Brass when I worked there, chasing the pigeons. The poor thing was coated in oily lamp black (pretty much the same stuff as in a toner cartridge). The bird was all black and couldn't fly. He parked himself on top of one of the buildings for several days and didn't move. Finally he fell off the building and we scooped him up and took him to the Ansonia Nature Center, and I think they sent him somewhere else, where he was identified. Poor thing didn't make it, though.
